Today I wandered around the city of San Miguel de Tucuman. Usually a city name is shortened to Tucuman. This capital of the province of Tucumán and the largest city of northern Argentina. The city was founded in 1565. In 1812, after defeating the troops of Manuel Belgrano in a battle near the city of Tucumán, the patroness of the city and the army was called the Virgin of La Merced.
